Work Your 12 Step Program by Staying in the Moment
John, one of my best friends, just let me know that he had a relapse. He was really upset that this happened. He had been doing so well—over 5 years in recovery. His mistake was, he thought he had this disease licked. Last year, he met a lovely woman, got married and promptly moved to another city.
All good things—except that he stopped attending meetings regularly and he didn’t keep up with his sponsor or find a new one. He stopped staying in the moment and working his program one day at a time.
We have been talking about how he can begin again. Aside from his meetings and working the steps, he is going to be using his HourPower watch (www.hourpowerwatches.com) to stay focused. He’s going to be checking the time and his secret message to keep him going forward. He said that he never wants to forget who he is and what he has to do. Looking down at his wrist, reminds him of his goal and the hours that have successfully passed in his day. Minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day, he is fighting his way back to recovery.
We’re all in his corner and praying for him.
