PLACE:  Resorts and hotels are the most costly.  Look at local wineries, community centers, rental halls from ethnic groups, etc.  All can be decorated beautifully and made to be an exciting arena.

GO LOCAL:  Support local businesses and you will be politically correct and right on budget. Select caterers and wedding bakeries from within your circle.  Make sure that you buy your own alcoholic beverages and bring it yourself to the reception.  Hire creative companies that support your vision of your wedding, but are more reasonable

ATTIRE : A wedding dress is important and you want to be a beautiful bride; but, it is only worn once!  Look for a special price-sample gowns, local designers, sale items.  There will still be ample selections of gorgeous choices.  When it comes to your bridesmaids-look at department stores for a dinner dress that can be worn again, or allow each girl to select a dress of their choosing in a particular color. 

FLOWERS/DECORATIONS: Use floral arrangements wisely:  less can be more when it comes to costly flowers.  Use your most expensive flowers sparingly and fill in with large amounts of baby’s breathe.  It creates a beautiful environment for much less.  Interesting decorations from balloons to fabrics can add an element of surprise and delight.

WHOM TO INVITE:  Focus on family and friends who mean something to each of you.  Invite people who need to be there; not just who satisfy an obligation.  Smaller weddings tend to be more personal
